This one is for all my Illinois readers. Although, if you’re not in Illinois, you might have something like this in your area.
Illinois Stewardship Alliance (ISA) is all about creating local, sustainable food systems that support farmers and give freedom to eaters.

ISA works with government to make changes in legislation that support local food systems. For example, expanding the Cottage Food Law, financing small processers with clean practices, and cutting down taxes for the small farmer.
ISA works directly with small farmers to hear what they need and then try to implement it on the governmental scale.
They offer a variety of events throughout the year to bring different stakeholders together to talk about problems and solutions. I actually had the opportunity to attend one where a state Senator was in attendance. It was located at a farm, and we enjoyed great locally grown food and talked about how the Senator could give support.
I totally recommend finding an organization and network like this in your own state or area. You will not only be connecting with others who care about our fragile food system, but you’ll also get the opportunity to meet powerful decision makers and make your voice heard.
Thank you, ISA, for all you do.

That’s all for now!
